AUTO + ICT = Dynamic TAIWAN

The global increasing demands for "safety, comfort, eco-friendly and energy-saving" of automobiles create great opportunities. The production value is estimated to reach US$176 billion by 2010 in the global automobile electronics industry.

With the strength of ICT industry, many Taiwanese companies have invested in the R&D of eco-friendly technology to take the market share of green automotive products. Take the LED industry for example, the design of automobile head lights focuses on the expression of light and enhancement of illuminating technology. As the regulation for new cars to equip with the daytime running lights is made officially by the EU in 2011, the application of LED has become more important and popular.

In addition, the demand of electric vehicles also makes a promising prospect for the lithium battery market. According to the survey by Frost & Sullivan, the production value of batteries for electric vehicles will grow to US$2.3 billion by 2014. Moreover, components like low-rotation-speed engines which effectively reduce gas consumption and light-weight parts & accessories that cut back on the weight of the automobile body are all brining greater opportunities for the industry.
